We believe in offering our customers exceptional coffees while rewarding the farmer, protecting the environment, and bettering our communities. To put those words into action, we partner with UTZ Certified, a sustainability program with a worldwide accepted standard of its own: Bring total transparency to the coffee sourcing process.

We believe that when our customers ask, “Where did the coffee come from?” and “How was it produced?” we should have confidence in our answer. With an extensive global field support network, the UTZ Certified coffee label “Good Inside™” program provides us and our customers the reassurance that the coffee we purchase is produced by farmers who adhere to a comprehensive Code of Conduct for efficient farming practices. The Code of Conduct is designed to increase coffee yields, provide training on the correct use of fertilizers, effective recordkeeping, protection of labor rights, and access to decent housing, health care, education and clean drinking water for employees and their families. For their efforts, farmers who complete the program are rewarded with the opportunity for increased quality, access to the coffee marketplace with a sustainably produced product, and ultimately better prices for their coffees, which can be reinvested in their farms, family or social support to the community.

Dunn Brothers and Good Inside™ launched our partnership in 2011 and Dunn Brothers is well on our way toward our goal of sourcing 100% sustainably produced coffees by the end of 2013. In fact, in this first year of our partnership we will source over 350,000 pounds of Good Inside™/UTZ Certified coffees.

As we work toward our goal of offering 100% sustainably produced coffee to you, we are committed to working with our existing farming partners to achieve UTZ certification, so we can deepen our long term relationships with them, enable their skills in responsible farming and continue to bring you the high quality coffees you have come to expect. In addition we will continually seek to expand the number of coffee farms certified with the UTZ program so that we can continue to bring you the breadth of unique coffees you have come to expect while making sure they are sustainably produced.

Until we are 100% certified we will continue to do what we have always done, and that is continue to invest in developing long-term and sustainable relationships with farming partners who produce the highest quality coffees, and respect them enough to pay them what their coffee beans are worth. This means we always pay them well in excess of Fair Trade guaranteed pricing. We will then work together with them to understand the benefits of the UTZ Certified program on farming practices and the added value of the Good Inside™ label, so that together we can each achieve our sustainability goals. Because doing the right thing not only helps us sleep well at night, it gives you the best possible cup of coffee, day in and day out.
