Papua New Guinea – Wau
DBC
"The Bold Standard"
Nowadays the town of Wau is a small and isolated community in Morobe Province. However, it has a very rich history. Wau put itself on the map as a true El Dorado and it was the setting of the first coffee plantations in Papua New Guinea.
Growing altitudes in the area vary between 1,000 and 1,200 meters, with the average farm having 600 Arabica coffee trees. The coffee is grown under shade and is inter-cropped with banana and sweet potato.
