Cafe de Altura de San Ramon Especial SA is composed of some 700 small producers from the Western Valley growing region of Costa Rica who came together with the objective of processing all their coffee together as one business.

Their coffee comes from small farms growing the Caturra and Catuai varieties at an elevation of between 1,000 and 1,300 meters above sea level. All the farms use shade in the growing areas.

The climate in the San ramon region is influenced by the Alberto Manuel Brenes Bilogical Reserve with a geographical area of 7,800 hectares of tropical rain forest that gives the region cool, cloudy days and its coffee its special characteristics of flavor and aroma.

The Land of Poets

San Ramon is known in Costa Rica as a land of Poets. Many important Costa Rican poets were born or have taken up residence in this county.
